O’ What a Beautiful Mornin’
February 2, 2008 2:10 pm Camp ScenesBen and I just had to get outside this morning . . .
The sun was shining . . .
The ice was sparkling on the trees . . .
and dripping onto our heads!
Here are some images I captured today:

Again, I focused my telephoto lens on the eagle nest, but no sign of movement. My snow shoeing buddy tells me the pair were seen on Middle Range last weekend! That’s good news!
Alas, I’m not as fast with the camera as I’d like to be. Ben, Cookie and I were walking on the ice along the tree line coming from the direction of Middle Range toward our picnic area, when all of a sudden the eagle flew out from the trees on our point.
I’m ashamed to admit my first reaction was to duck! They have such an amazing wingspan!
I focused my camera skyward, but the eagle was already flying around the point and out of sight.
Ben tells me I need to practice whipping my camera toward my subject like a cowboy practices pulling his gun from his holster.
Not a bad analogy.
Last Wednesday, while driving over the causeway between the lakes, the eagle was standing on the ice in clear view of the road, eating his breakfast. Do you think I had my camera with me? NOoooooooo!

Those are some really awesome pictures. My favorite is the one with bows of branches hanging with the ice drippings. If you ducked from the eagle passing over imagine me! I duck at a sparrow! LOL
Even here it was pretty from the trees covered with icicles, Although you had that ice storm this past week there..we were spared from it here on the south shore. I wonder how it would be to be winter camping up there in my trailer????

I took about 100 pictures yesterday! It was hard to narrow it down to just posting a few.
Alex manages to put pretty collages on her Live Journal . . . I have to figure out how to do that.
I wondered if you’d gotten the ice! Alex was in Fitchburg this past weekend and she said they had a horrible ice storm there . . . accidents all over the place.
I bet you’d have fun up here in the winter! There’s tons of ice fisherman and snowmobilers out there on the weekends. Some of them are hanging out under the eagles nest. I wonder if that will keep them from it? I hope not!
